A black and white clad herd have recently been spotted, roaming the streets of Geelong armed with fox 40 whistles and communicating with a series of elaborate hand signals accompanied by cries of "Cut Track", "Illegal Procedure" and "Forearms".
Local Roller Derby League GRDL have identified this rules savvy herd as their own and issued a release stating that the group are of no threat to the general public, unless of course you're wearing quad skates and breaking the WFTDA rules - in which case you should be careful.
In this release circulated to the local sporting community, GRDL have also stated that this particular herd, while they can be quite noisy and the hand signals can be daunting, have only one aim - to ensure the safety and legality of all things derby.
If you encounter this herd out on the street, GRDL advise that you ensure you don't commit a penalty anywhere they can see, or else you risk being sent to the sin bin to think about what you've done.
Often this group also consists of non skating officials, who assist the Zebras in their task, more diminutive than the noisy Zebras, you still don’t want to mess with this group, they control when you get to leave the sin bin!
